Common insurance inspection services

Four-point inspection

Documents visible and accessible conditions associated with the roof, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems using the requested form and supporting photographs.

Wind mitigation inspection

Documents qualifying construction features such as roof shape, roof-deck attachment, roof-to-wall connection, opening protection, and other applicable attributes.

Roof condition documentation

Records visible roof-covering condition, approximate age information when available, and related observations for the requested purpose and form.

Coordinated inspection visit

When practical, insurance documentation can be coordinated with a general home inspection, WDO service, or other agreed property review.

What to have available

Important insurance limitation

An inspection documents observed conditions and available evidence. NJCAT does not determine coverage, premiums, discounts, insurability, underwriting acceptance, or the remaining useful life assigned by a carrier. Requirements may differ by insurer, property, form, and policy.

Insurance inspection questions

What is the difference between a four-point and wind mitigation inspection?

A four-point inspection focuses on four major systems commonly reviewed for eligibility. A wind mitigation inspection documents specified wind-resistant construction features that may support available credits.

Can both inspections be done during one visit?

Often yes, provided access, documentation, scope, and scheduling allow.

Will an inspection guarantee a discount or policy?

No. The insurance carrier decides eligibility, credits, premiums, and coverage.
